About
As a landlocked nation with a population of 13 million, whose capital city is Kigali – you’ll be hard pressed to find one more beautiful and mysterious than Rwanda, endearingly called ‘The Land of a Thousand Hills’, Rwanda is home to five volcanoes, 23 lakes and various waterways, some of which shape the wellspring of the River Nile. For the latitudinal and longitudinal buffs, this peaceful nation lies 75 miles south of the equator in the Tropic of Capricorn, 880 miles ‘straight’ from one point to the other, west of the Indian Ocean and 1,250 miles east of the Atlantic Ocean – all that factual information aside; it boils down to the fact that Rwanda is in fact nestled in the heart of Africa. Literacy levels are high at 73.22% with employment at 83.3%. The President is Paul Kagame the Prime minister is Edouard Ngirente and we drive on the right hand side.
Rwanda’s relatives are Uganda toward the north, Tanzania toward the east, Burundi toward the south and the Democratic Republic of Congo toward the west.
