Queen Elizabeth is one of the oldest parks in Uganda gazetted in 1952 as Kazinga National park and renamed in 1954 to commemorate a visit by Queen Elizabeth II to Uganda. Beyond any doubt, this park is Uganda’s most popular tourist destination with a diverse eco-system ranging from dry savanna to shady, humid tropical rainforest in Kyambura hiding chimps, baboons, monkeys to mention but a few, sparkling panoramic views of the Kazinga channel dotted with hippos, crocodiles, buffalos and elephants, Uganda Kobs, and birds of different types. Furthermore, the Park is also blessed with fascinating cultural history. There are many opportunities for visitors to meet the local communities and enjoy storytelling, dance, music, and more. The gazetting of the park has ensured the conservation of its ecosystem, which in turn benefited the surrounding communities.

DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1 Morning Pickup and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park- evening boat cruise.

At exactly 06:30 am after having your heavy breakfast, your tour guide will pick you from your agreed starting point in Kampala and transfer you to Queen Elizabeth Nation Park. This will take you approximately 7 hours of the drive along Kampala- Fort portal road, have a stop at Garden restaurant, café, Art Gallery for lunch, and then proceed to directly to Kazinga channel, a narrow waterway connecting Lake Edward and George which is about 40 km long, famous for harboring the highest number of hippos in the whole world. Other animal species are usually seen on the water banks drinking water like elephants, buffaloes, Uganda Kobs, waterbucks, crocodiles, and antelopes. Transfer to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2 Morning game drive and Chimpanzee trekking

After your hot breakfast at 06:30 am, you will meet up with your guide and go for a game drive in Kasenyi plains where you will be revealed to a wide range of wild game like elephants, buffaloes, Kobs, warthogs, waterbucks, and different birds like grey crown cranes, red throat sour fowls, yellow-throated long crow, among others. Get back and have lunch at your lodge, then transfer to Kyambura gorge, a magnificent valley of apes. The gorge has also got stunning views of tropical rainforest and it's positioned very close to the equator crossing. Its steep slopes don't only attract chimps but also other primates like the red-tailed monkey, olive baboons, white colobus monkey among others, and bird species ranging from beautiful flamingos, Africa skimmers, white-tailed lark papyrus gonolek, vereux eagle, owl lesser shoebills. Check in the lodge, dine and have an overnight stay.

Day 3 Morning transfer to Entebbe Airport-Equator experience at Kayabwe

After your early morning breakfast at 06:30 am, you will drift back to Kampala. Have a stopover at Kayabwe for lunch and the Equator experience. Here is an imaginary line that divides the earth into two halves which are the North and the southern hemisphere. You will experience water experiments carried out on either side of the equator and some water experiments directly on the equator itself. The results show that the movement and drainage of water differ in each of the hemispheres. This experiment is known as a demonstration of the carioles effect. Thereafter, you will engage in other activities like visiting craft stalls to see and admire the local art and craft, taking photo shots, interacting with the locals among others. After that, you will continue directly to your booked hotel for a night stay or to the airport depending on your end of safari arrangements.
