6 Days – MOUNT KENYA EXPERIENCE – NANYUKI – MAASAI MARA

Camping

Resting at the foothills of Mount Kenya and the Aberdare Mountain Range, in central Kenya’s Laikipia County, the Ol Pejeta Conservancy is the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa. It is also home to the last two remaining northern white rhinos in the world. Originally a working cattle ranch in colonial Kenya and now a pioneering wildlife conservancy, Ol Pejeta works to protect wildlife and provide a sanctuary for rescued chimpanzees. The Conservancy is a popular safari destination and is home to the renowned ‘Big Five’ as well as a wide selection of other African animals including zebra, giraffe, hippo, cheetah, jackal, serval, hyena, vervet monkey, and many more. Visitors can enjoy an assortment of outdoor activities such as horse rides, game walks, and nocturnal game drives’’

‘‘When it comes to game viewing, there is nowhere richer in wildlife or more eventful in encounters than the Mara. A pristine wilderness of haunting beauty, it promises its visitors a profusion of wildlife, prolific birdlife, and the unprecedented opportunity of catching up with all the members of the ‘Big Five’. As to scenery of this veteran reserve offer the classic mix of African imagery; miles of lion-gold grasslands, shoals of lilac-misted hills, a meandering river, acres of thorn-bush, and mile upon mile of undulating wilderness. The highlight of the Mara is between July and October when the world’s greatest wildlife spectacle takes place – the annual wildebeest migration, the sensation is unparalleled. Simply an impressive feature, this migration of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle from the plains of the Serengeti crosses the Tanzania border and rivers to reach Mara’s lush grassland. The journey is haunted by predators: lion, leopard, and cheetah and circled by vultures. The crocodiles wait during the dramatic river crossings’’
